Now that the summer weather is finally here, it’s great if you can sneak away from your desk and enjoy lunch outside. In our nation’s capital, there are some incredible food trucks serving lunch to hundreds of Washingtonians every day. You can certainly find whatever you are craving in one of the nearly 200 food trucks that call America’s Paris home — but just expect a line. Here are some of the best food trucks that are worth the wait:
Takorean: As DC’s first and most popular Korean Taco truck, Takorean serves a delicious fusion blend of Korean BBQ with a twist of Mexican style. Open to lunch goers throughout the downtown DC area, all recipes are made from scratch using fresh ingredients. TaKorean serves fantastic vegetarian and vegan options daily, including caramelized tofu tacos, along with Korean style Bulgogi beef or tangy chicken tacos topped with fresh spicy or mild slaw, cool lime crème, Sriracha Chili sauce, fresh cilantro and sesame seeds on top of corn tortillas. @taKorean
fojol bro: One of the first food trucks to hit the streets of our nation’s capital, fojol bros is a “traveling culinary carnival.” The long – and quick moving lines are a testament to the delicious and healthy food served. The menu is focused on food from two distant lands: Merlindia and Benethiopia. In Merlindia, meals are served over basmati rice. Benethiopians eat with their hands, using injera, a teff-based bread, to pick up their vegetarian and meat stews. The fojol bros also serves frozen “Lossipops” to compliment the spicy nature of its meals. fojols bros also spreads blankets near the truck, providing for a great place to enjoy your lunch. @fojolbros
Red Hook Lobster truck: This Brooklyn-born truck brings sophisticated seafood to the streets of DC. Famous for its lobster rolls and authentic New England clam chowder, the Red Hook Lobster truck attracts large crowds every day. You can get lobster rolls in two ways: Maine Style – fresh Maine lobster meat in a homemade light lemon-based mayo – or Connecticut Style — fresh Maine Lobster meat poached in butter. @LobstertruckDC.
